John is a mobile engineer with experience building across edtech, fintech, and security. He began his career as a native Android developer with Java, progressed to Kotlin, and later moved into cross-platform development with Flutter and Dart.

His entry into Bitcoin open source began with the [Chaincode BOSS program](https://bosschallenge.xyz/). After completing the program, he contributed to Rust-Payjoin, particularly in the release of [payjoin-0.25.0](https://github.com/payjoin/rust-payjoin/releases/tag/payjoin-0.25.0). Recognizing a gap in Bitcoin's mobile tooling for Dart, he joined the foundational [discussion](https://github.com/orgs/payjoin/discussions/673) and contributed to the development of [uniffi-dart](https://github.com/Uniffi-Dart/uniffi-dart), before turning his focus to building Dart language bindings for BDK, now [bdk-dart](https://github.com/bitcoindevkit/bdk-dart). He is now a co-maintainer of bdk-dart and leads the development of the [BDK Dart Wallet](https://github.com/bitcoindevkit/bdk-dart/tree/main/bdk_demo), built in Flutter.

John's grant is [funded by Btrust](https://blog.btrust.tech/q1-2026-btrust-developer-grant-announcement/). [Btrust](https://www.btrust.tech/) is a non-profit organization with a dedicated mission to decentralize the development of Bitcoin software, with a focus on fostering developer talent in the Global South.
